No, this isn’t the previously mentioned Fairy Meadow at the base of the Lotus Flower Tower. It’s a whole new one.

With a hut.

Yes, after leaving Peak Week behind we move slightly down the slope to a hut on the side of the mountain, but since the climbing season is approaching and it’s such a beautiful hut, I thought why nut…er, not.

One of the Alpine Club of Canada’s premiere huts, it’s popular in the spring and summer for hikes, but where it really shines is as accommodation in the winter for skiers.

Helicopter. I’m not even sure if there’s a maintained path up. It’s basically just a fly in, fly out situation.

During the winter it’s complicated to get to, you have to go through a lottery, and then it’s $1000 for a week, plus helicopter fare. In the summer, when you’d be hiking, it’s per night ($40), but you still have to shell out for a helicopter. Best do research before heading to Golden (which is where the helipad is.)

Here’s a 360 view of the area near the hut. Other than that there’s not a ton of mainstream info on this place (which isn’t a huge surprise, given it’s remote location) but back country skiers sure have reviewed it a lot of times. So here’s the official site
